Rasmata Ouedraogo/Zongo

General Secretary

.Mrs. Ouédraogo, née Zongo Rasmata

“For me, working in support of women affected by obstetric trauma and female genital mutilation is a duty. I believe it is also my modest contribution to the empowerment of women in Burkina Faso.”

Mrs. Ouédraogo, née Zongo Rasmata, is a nurse. Initially trained in hairdressing and aesthetics, she gained her first experience working with women suffering from obstetric complications and the difficulties they face in accessing emergency obstetric care during her stay in Gouré, in eastern Niger.

Her missionary experience with the International Missionary Society (SIM) at the Danja Fistula Center in Niger brought her into closer contact with women suffering from obstetric fistula, leading her to pursue a career change. She undertook nursing studies, which she successfully completed, and contributed to patient care during a short internship at the center. She also completed internships at the Regional Hospital Center of Maradi and at the Danja Health and Leprosy Center in Niger.

Upon returning to Burkina Faso, she completed an internship at the Trame d’Accueil Health and Social Promotion Center (CSPS) in Ouagadougou before beginning to work closely with Dr. Itengré Ouédraogo in the care of women who had undergone obstetric fistula surgery. To further strengthen her skills, she returned to the Danja Fistula Center to gain additional expertise in post-operative care.

Known for her compassion toward women in distress and her remarkable communication skills, she plays a key role in coordinating patient recruitment and liaising with volunteers, while also overseeing the activities of the social reintegration program.

Her ambition is to continue her studies in order to provide even greater support to women in need.
